Capture of signalling elements and updating of as-completed data for the Norwegian route network

BaneNOR, 2016 – 2020

As part of the ERTMS program, the Norwegian infrastructure operator BaneNOR worked together with SIGNON to carry out the IDAM (Infrastructure Data Acquisition and Management) project. The aim of this was to create a data base for the ETCS project planning.

All lines on the 4,000 km-long Norwegian railway infrastructure were therefore recorded using SIGNON’s SATengine tool in order to subsequently verify the positions of the signalling equipment elements. The existing infrastructure database was updated using this information. SIGNON also drew on its vast experience to accompany the data management process, ensuring the customer can also make use of the full potential of the georeferenced infrastructure data.

BaneNOR and the manufacturer of the equipment technology now have access to a complete topology model and precise distances down to the track and platform between the infrastructure elements. In addition to these topology data, the customer can also use SATengine Viewer in order to reproduce or inspect the local conditions. This eliminates the need for costly on-site inspections, making work significantly easier on the Norwegian network, which covers an extensive area.
